2025 IDS & MOU Development Training Series (MSP LTER, CCESR)

2025 IDS & MOU Development Training Series (MSP LTER, CCESR)

In the Fall of 2025, Indigenous rights consultant An Garagiola (EchoMaker Consulting) conducted a training series on Indigenous data sovereignty (IDS) and best practices for developing ethical research partnerships for Minneapolis-St. Paul Long-Term Ecological Research Program (MSP LTER) and Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve (CCESR) personnel. The trainings included two virtual sessions and one in-person workshop.  The virtual sessions were recorded for current and future personnel, while workshop materials are available via Drive links.

These trainings were designed to help personnel learn how to develop respectful, reciprocal, and transparent research partnerships, with a focus on unique considerations for collaborating with Indigenous partners. The in-person workshop provided support toward crafting MOUs for conducting research with collaborators outside the University.

This training series is one way the MSP LTER and CCESR are responding to the University’s Indigenous Research Policy, following advice from Karen Diver, Director of the University’s Office of Native American Affairs.
