WHAT IS ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE?The topic of antimicrobial resistance in agriculture is often centered around the use of antimicrobials and the potential transfer of resistance via food or direct contact with animals. However, this issue is more complex and the impact on the agricultural worker is often not discussed. This forum builds on our efforts to support the health of farmers, farm workers and their families.

The Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center (UMASH) is one of eleven Centers of Excellence in Agricultural Disease and Injury Research, Education, and Prevention funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) through a cooperative agreement U54OH010170.
