In the middle of Song of Myself, Walt Whitman says:
Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
(I am large, I contain multitudes.)
Each of us does contain multitudes: the totality of our past and present selves and of our aspirations for our future. So what competencies, skills, knowledge, and experience do you bring to the party? How do you convey who you are to other people? To your employer or to a potential employer? And if push came to shove, how would you prove your skills, competencies, knowledge, and experience? Big questions need big answer.
From digital badges to innovative certification models, the possibilities for credentialing initiatives that help learners bring their whole selves to the labor market are driven by the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation, National Governors Association, the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), and AACRAO (the registrar’s association). We will unravel these innovative approaches, showcasing real-world examples that demonstrate their impact and potential to revolutionize traditional credentialing systems.
Moreover, we’ll look ahead to anticipate the critical uses of digital credentials in a skills-aligned, AI-driven labor market. As technology continues to advance and societal needs evolve, we will explore emerging trends and cutting-edge developments that promise to redefine the way we validate and recognize skills and achievements.
Whether you're an educator, employer, or lifelong learner, this keynote promises to spark inspiration and insight into the next frontier of credentialing. Join us as we embark on a journey to unlock the future of credentials and discover the endless possibilities they hold.
