Quality MattersCommunity as Innovation: Leveraging our Collective Strengths for Maximum Impact in Today’s Digital Learning Environment
Collective Notes: z.umn.edu/SC2024-Notes1
Especially since the pandemic, student demand for online options has increased, providing new urgency for digital innovations. Opportunities aligned with enrollment growth, however, are often accompanied by historical challenges for digital education, such as lack of appropriate resources, tools, staff, and administrative support for online learning initiatives. When it comes to delivering quality digital education, there is no “one size fits all”, and implementing innovations must be tailored to the campus context and culture. This, along with the inherent competitiveness of today’s higher ed market, can sometimes stymie collaborations across campuses or institutions. However, approaching collaboration and community as a “win-win” is not only possible, but necessary for most campuses to scale their online learning offerings. Join Dr. Bethany Simunich, VP of Innovation and Research at Quality Matters, to hear how leaning into our online community can be an untapped approach to innovation, and how a collaborative approach can actually help meet institutional goals for delivering online quality. Dr. Simunich will showcase success stories and strategies for how campus systems, QM member systems, individual institutions, and even online learning faculty and staff, are working together to leverage individual and collective strengths on behalf of online learners, and quality digital education.
