Bio: Dr.
Pals received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Drake University in
2018. She completed a PGY-1 ambulatory care residency through the
University of Minnesota and a Psychiatric PGY-2 residency through the
William S. Middleton Veterans Affairs Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
She then transitioned to the Tomah VA where she has been a Clinical
Pharmacist Practitioner in the outpatient Addiction Treatment Program
since 2020. She specializes in performing comprehensive medication
management services for various mental health and substance use
disorders under a scope of practice with prescriptive authority,
including controlled substances. She works collaboratively with the
X-waivered psychiatrists in the clinic to manage patients taking
buprenorphine for opioid use disorder.

Seminar Objectives: Following the presentation, the attendees should be able to: - Define the role of a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner (CPP) within an interdisciplinary Addiction Treatment Program
- Illustrate the impact of a CPP in a healthcare system beyond direct patient care
- Identify opportunities for advocacy to advance the profession and care for our patients
