Are you a course instructor looking to improve accessibility in your
lectures, assignments, and learning platform? Perhaps you are searching
for ways to ensure active engagement of all learners, rather than just a
few? Or are you a student with a learning disability, an English
learner, or someone who regularly experiences barriers to traditional
instruction? Are you looking for opportunities to develop self-advocacy
skills and demonstrate your strengths in your college coursework?
This
month we are joined by Amy Kunkel, Ph.D., assistant teaching professor
and special education licensure coordinator for the Department of
Educational Psychology in the College of Education and Human Development
on the Twin Cities campus.
This presentation will provide
instructors and students with strategies to improve engagement and
accessibility in college coursework. Through Universal Design for
Learning, barriers to traditional instruction are broken down, and
instructors build learning activities that provide multiple means of
engagement, representation of content, and methods to demonstrate and
assess student understanding. This presentation will provide attendees
with valuable information on developing universally designed lectures,
activities, and learning platforms (e.g., Canvas) to ensure
accessibility for all students in your college courses
