Today's podcast's main focus will be to get the perspective of student-athletes on research that is considered a supporter of mental health in student-athletes.
My goal is to give the audience the perspective of student-athletes while also hearing the statistical side of view on their mental health to not only compare the two but also make them think about how they perceive student-athletes and mental health.
My first question would be to ask the athletes to introduce themselves and what sport and position they play
The second question will be have they ever had an athletic injury and if so how many and how serious were they
Then I would go into how that affected them as a player and their mental health
I would talk to them about how many physicians when checking your body out ask you about your physical pain but never your mental.
I would bring in my sources from “student-athletes mental health help-seeking experiences. About how student-athletes don't seek help because of the standard that is set for them to push through or be tougher.
I would bring in another source about student-athletes who have gone through injury and how it affected their mental health and ask the athlete their opinion on some of the key points in the sources and anything they would like to add.
I plan on repeating that same process for one more athlete to hear maybe a different perspective on the same circumstances.
I will also be adding many pictures and videos that connect to the topic at hand or the person who is being interviewed to give a visual connection to the audience.
