Leonor de Oliveira, PhD, presents: Toward Understanding Sexual Boredom and Its Implications for Sexual Health and Well-Being

Sexual boredom is a common concern but scarcely addressed in research. The literature fails to explain how the construct intertwines with other aspects of sexuality and relationships. The aim of this research was to expand on the notion of sexual boredom and explore relationships with other aspects of sexuality in adults from the community. Toward this, a thematic analysis, a cluster analysis, and a latent profile analysis were conducted. Results indicate that sexual boredom is multidimensional and identify groups with varying levels of sexual boredom and desire. Higher sexual boredom was associated with lower levels of sexual desire and satisfaction, but not in all groups. Results suggest that sexual boredom contributes to sexual health and well-being.
