Collective Notes: z.umn.edu/SC2024-Notes13.
In today’s rapidly evolving workplace, the demand for diverse, flexible, and practical professional development options is escalating. Higher education institutions are uniquely positioned to meet this need through non-credit offerings that provide valuable alternative credentials such as badges, Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and certificates of completion. These credentials not only bolster an individual’s skill set but also enhance employability and professional growth.
This training will explore how faculties and staff within the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) have capitalize on this growing trend by developing meaningful non-credit professional development opportunities. We will highlight successful programs such as Ambiguous Loss, MN Child Welfare Training Academy, and the newly release CAREIALL Advancing Language Literacy program. Participants will learn about the strategic importance of these programs, both as a service to the community and as a revenue stream for the department/college. By the end of this session, attendees will be equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to initiate or enhance non-credit professional development programs, thereby contributing to the institution’s mission of lifelong learning and community engagement while also generating significant departmental revenue.
